Book Club Retreat 2024

As 2024 is coming to an end, I’m doing a lot of reminiscing and admiring on the past year, as always, who’s shocked. While i was looking through my pictures, there was a constant that stood out to me, and that was my girls. These five have stood by my side through every phase of life. These are the people my children will grow up knowing, the people i trust with my life, the people who are weaved into every part of my soul. I love each of them for such different reasons, and they bring such a beautiful harmony to my life. We formed our “book club” this year as a way to be more intentional in our friendships and spending time with each other. Month after month we came together, discussed our books, yes, we did actually read our books, and spent the rest of the day/time tending to our friendships. We took the time to learn things we didn’t know about each other. In November we took a little staycation to Montgomery Bell. It was everything each of us needed as the year wrapped up and got busier. It was the definition of girlhood: TikToks, pizza, cocktails, taco night, screaming songs at the top of our lungs, a mega sleepover with a mega bed. Going into the weekend we were adamant about capturing all the moments while still being present in them. This video is just a cheesy, short compilation and representation of how much all of our friendships have blossomed in the last year. This is extremely sappy, and that’s fine, it’s something i’m taking into 2025. I say all of this to say: be intentional in your friendships, set the one day a month aside to be with your people in the craziness of life. You’ll have so many memories to look back on and so much excitement to make new ones. Lastly, cheers to my girls if you’ve made it this far.

Embracing The Art of Live Music

The Barstool Series is an opportunity for artists to come together and sing original songs with no judgement. Barney Wells, long time musician, hosts this series on the first Friday of every month to highlight the talent hidden in the outskirts of Nashville. Just 45 minutes from Nashville, Dickson County makes the perfect home for songwriters looking to get off Broadway and connect to their roots. One19 Craft Kitchen and Brewery, often referred to as "the mothership" among the Dickson songwriter circle, is the normal sanctuary musicians and residents escape to when they need a place to be themselves. Due to its popularity, however, sometimes the talent has to spill down the street to their sister restaurant, Duke's. Duke's was opened in 2023 as a tribute to the owner's, Morgan Chandler, late uncle. Morgan Chandler has played a massive role in expanding and elevating the atmosphere in Downtown Dickson. She and her father, Dick Kincaid, have provided the perfect homes and environment to bring Dickson's musicians and lovers of live music together.
